On Friday afternoon, TechX hosted its first guest speaker for the 2018-2019 school year. Yogesh Khanna serves as Chief Technology Officer for General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) at its headquarters in Virginia and is also a member of the Louisiana Tech University College of Engineering and Computer Science advisory board. Khanna covered a wide variety of topics in this open discussion with students and faculty, from career advice to an overview of the present and future state of the technology industry.

One of Khanna’s primary emphases was the value of education. He explained how the universities in northern Louisiana drew GDIT to the area and how these partnerships are continuing to benefit both students and the technology industry. Yogesh Khanna also described his career path and answered students’ questions about keys to success in the technology industry.

When a student asked Khanna about the growth of artificial intelligence and whether GDIT is involved in this area of innovation, Khanna responded by saying that GDIT is entering this field. Khanna provided an outline of GDIT’s operations and discussed his thoughts on the future of technology and jobs in this industry.

As an advisory board member, Khanna explained, he has had the incredible opportunity to shape the curriculum for future students in cyber. And Khanna believes that current technology students will be those who continue to transform the future.
