Lab Policies

  1. Lab users must be current Louisiana Tech students or faculty or granted access by the TechX Lab Leadership, and GDIT.
  • Must have a valid student ID to access the lab during normal lab hours,
  • Student IDs are not required during class visits.
  • Extending stay after hours will require student ID check-in/check out.
  1. Be professional and courteous at all times.
  • Academic use of workstations takes priority.
  • Limit recreational use of workstations to periods of light usage.
  • Excessive use of foul language is unacceptable and unprofessional behavior and may result in temporary loss of lab privileges.
  1. Lab workers are available to assist lab users and maintain the lab’s operation.
  • Lab management reserves the right to determine appropriate lab and equipment use.
  • Inappropriate use of hardware, software, and/or personnel may result in removal from the lab and denial of future use of the lab.
  1. Lab equipment must be operated with respect and care.
  • Report any equipment malfunction immediately to staff on duty.
  • Return equipment to its proper location. If furniture or equipment is moved for class or group work, please return it to the original setup for future visitors.
  • Please plug equipment into charging station for next visitors’ use.
  • ALL TRASH must be thrown away.
  1. Food and drink are permitted in the TechX lab space. Please clean up after yourself.
  2. Do NOT install software, modify any files, or modify or overwrite any system parameters.
  • Only TechX lab staff may install software.
  • Files not authorized and installed by TechX lab staff will be routinely removed unless they are for a university staff member’s class.
  1. No inappropriate or illegal behavior will be tolerated.
  • Using lab devices for viewing inappropriate materials, copying software without appropriate authorization, or other illegal activities is prohibited.
  • Offenders face disciplinary action by university officials and will be banned from the lab and have illegally-used materials confiscated.
  1. Intentional damage or theft of lab supplies, equipment, or furnishings will be reported to campus security and local law enforcement. Violators will receive the appropriate disciplinary action.
  2. Any failure to follow these lab rules may result in the loss of lab privileges.
